What a feeling... My firstborn is going to kindy. I just couldn't believe how time flies. Ihsan is excited when mentioning about kindy. He's going to get lots of friends. That's I'm sure.
Woke him up this morning and getting him ready to go to his kindy. He looks so handsome in his kindy's uniform which is white shirt, navy collar with blue tie and blue pants. The kindy starts at 8.30 am until 11.30 am. We send the two sisters to the nursery first and then off we go to the kindy.
My hubby dropped us at the kindy and after hugging Ihsan, he went to work. I bought some Milo and currypuffs for Ihsan, just in case he gets hungry before his breaks. We went to the kindy and saw that his friend Ilham was there also with his parents. Two of his friends from nursery are also going to the same kindy. His friends are Ilham and Farah. The kindy fills with lots of crying kids and anxious parents just like me.
Met with Ihsan's teacher ie. Puan Alimah. He assured me that all these kids which has no knowledge about English is going to speak English by end of the year. Spoken to Ilham's mom and she said that Ilham is a little bit clingy. Ihsan by the way is excited to see his friends there. The three of them sits together. Gave Ihsan his Milo and curry puff to eat. He gave one of his curry puffs to Ilham. They both ate their curry puffs the same way ie. only eating the puffs.
Ihsan is in KK class. That means for those kids which is first time in kindy. Puan Alimah starts the class by teaching the kids to say "Good Morning, Teacher". Seeing that Ilham, Ihsan and Farah sits together and know one another, she separated them. Ihsan got to sit next to a girl. There's more boys than girls in Ihsan's class. Then, Puan Alimah distributed the school acitivity books, pencil case and colour pencils to the class. She then ask the class, who knows how to sing "ABC'? Ihsan raised his hands and told the teacher that he knows it. "That's good" said Puan Alimah. Everybody in class sang the ABC song together. She then show the flash card with the word "a" and asked who knows the alphabet? She proceeded by showing the kids how to write the word "a" with her hands. All the kids were given a colouring sheet with pictures of flowers and were asked to colour it. Ihsan is the first person who finished his colouring and gave it to his teacher. I saw him colouring the flower by putting the red crayon all over it. After it was all colour up, he took whatever crayon and colour it again. Huh, what do you expect when a boy is doing the colouring, and he colours it his way. I saw that the other girls were pretty careful when colouring and they colour it very carefully so as not to go beyond the edges. So theirs turn out much nicer than the boys.
Ihsan is very much at school as he keeps going in and out of the class as and when he likes it. Puan Alimah reminded the class that if they want to go to the toilet, they may do so by asking her. Ihsan raised his hand to Puan Alimah telling her that he wants to go to the toilet. I showed him where the toilet is and told him to do his business and reminded him to wash his hands after that.
I left Ihsan at his class and spoke to Ilham's mom. She asked me whether I have registered Ihsan for the Standard One School. I said no and she said that if I brought along the birth certificate, we can go and register Ilham and Ihsan together. We have to act fast on this as the 2000 babies are a handful lot.
I saw that some of the parents brought their handicam and digitalcam for recording the kids at school. I envy them as I don't have one. Memories are forever. I got to get those things sooner or later as I want to make memories of my kids growing up.
The kids get to eat cornflakes and milk during their tea break. Ihsan finished his bowl first and I just couldn't believe my eyes because usually he doesn't take his cornflakes with milk at home. The kids got to leave early around 10.30 am for the first three days.
The teachers asked all the kids to line up for their turn to take the van. Then, they arranged the kids according to their destinations. Ihsan got to sit in front with Farah and Ilham. Ilham's mom said that please don't worry about Ihsan as she will make sure that the kids arrive safely at the nursery as she will be following the van. I said my thank you to her and told her that I will be leaving straight home after that. Seeing Ihsan and the kids in the van, makes me teary as seeing my Ihsan has turned out to be a very fine young man and very independent at school. I don't have to worry about my son anymore as he can get along with others very well. I'm so proud of Ihsan as his first day at kindy turns out fine. Good job, son! :) He also goes for his mengaji class today.
